Robotic Surgery
By dramatically enhancing visualization, precision, control and dexterity, robotic surgery offers advantages over the limitations of traditional surgery, helping surgeons perform complex surgery in a manner never before experienced. Our robotic surgery specialists are extensively trained in the use of this technology, experiencing solid results and quick recovery times for patients.
The Robotic Surgical System consists of a surgeon’s console, a patient-side cart with three or four interactive robotic arms, a high-performance vision system and sophisticated instruments. Powered by state-of-the-art robotic technology, the surgeon’s hand movements are scaled, filtered and translated into precise movements of the EndoWrist Instruments.
The System cannot be programmed, nor can it make decisions on its own. The System requires that every surgical maneuver be performed with direct input from your surgeon.
Urologic Conditions Treated With Robotic Surgery
The Robotic System provides capabilities that allow surgeons to perform complex procedures with greater precision through tiny incisions. Robotic-assisted visualization, dexterity, precision and control can enable your surgeon to perform a wide array of urologic procedures through 1-2 cm incisions, while achieving equal or better clinical outcomes compared to traditional open operative approaches.
Urologic Applications
Bladder Diverticulectomy
Dismembered Pyeloplasty
Nephrectomy
Radical Prostatectomy
Ureteral reimplantation
Advantages of Robotic Prostatectomy
- Short hospital stay (usually 1-2 nights)
- Minimal pain
- Minimal risk of infection
- Minimal blood loss and transfusion requirement
- Minimal scarring
- Rapid recovery
- Rapid return to normal activities
