Elizabeth Kavaler, M.D.

Dr. Kavaler is a board-certified urologist with a specialty in female urology, treating conditions such as urinary incontinence and pelvic floor prolapse.

Dr. Kavaler is a board-certified urologist and is one of only 500 practicing woman urologists in the United States. She is considered one of the preeminent experts in female urological disorders. She holds appointments as Attending Urologist at both Lenox Hill Hospital and New York Presbyterian, Director of Urogynecology at Lenox Hill Hospital and Clinical Assistant Professor at Weill Cornell Medical College.

Female patients tend to seek Dr. Kavaler out as a woman physician because they generally feel more comfortable discussing these often embarrassing issues with a woman doctor. Each patient has a different story, with different variables that makes their problem unique and interesting. Her work is collaborative in that she likes her patients to take an active role in the therapeutic process by working together to find solutions that best manage the problem. For her, it is very rewarding to see patients get better.

Elizabeth Kavaler MD - standingDr. Kavaler is the author of “A Seat On The Aisle, Please!”, her publication on commonly misunderstood female urological matters. Visit her website for more information at elizabethkavalermd.com. The goal of the book is to help women guide their decisions when they see a practitioner for the conditions that she treats. She also recently co-authored a chapter on Anatomy and Embryology of the Female Urinary Tract.

She enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking & reading. She also loves to travel for both work and fun, and recently went on a medical mission with another urologist to Vietnam.

Dr. Kavaler joined the practice in 2000 and is currently practicing at the 245 East 54th Street office.
